Aerospace Parts Cleaning, Ultrasonic Tanks

Aerospace cleaning is governed by the tightest cleanliness requirements in industry, applied to components that cannot tolerate the processes most workshops use to meet them. Fatigue-critical surfaces cannot be blasted. Cooling passages cannot be reached by hand. Every cycle must withstand audit.

Misonics supplies and supports systems for commercial aviation MRO, defence aviation sustainment, aerospace OEM manufacture and space propulsion — with a trial laboratory, Brulin chemistry carrying the approvals your quality system will ask about, and over-the-air support.

The Contamination Problem

What we remove in aerospace & aviation

Carbonised fuel & combustion soot

Coked onto injectors, combustion liners and turbine hardware — insoluble once polymerised.

Hydraulic varnish

Lacquered onto valve spools and actuator internals where tolerances are microns.

Heat scale & discolouration

On hot-section alloys where removal must not touch parent metal.

Machining oils & lapping compounds

Trapped in threads, galleries and blind features ahead of NDT or coating.

De-icing residues & particulate

Accumulated in service on airframe and landing-gear assemblies.

AM powder entrapment

Unfused powder in lattice structures and internal channels — unreachable by contact methods.

The endpoint is a defined, repeatable process condition — cycle time, chemistry, concentration, frequency and temperature are recorded parameters, not operator judgement.
Trial Evidence

Before and after, from our own trials

Airfield ground lighting optics off a major Australian aerodrome, photographed as they arrived and again after a documented twenty minute cycle.

After cycle

Inset fixture lens, centre optic. Cooked tyre rubber, fuel residue and runway dust bonded over the only part of the lens doing optical work. Brulin 1696 GD at 20% and 50 °C, twenty minutes, nothing touching the glass. See the full case study →

Components We Clean

Real parts, real materials

Engine & propulsion

Turbine blades and vanes, combustion liners, fuel nozzles, bearing housings — internal cooling passages clean without dimensional loss.

Inconel 718/625Cobalt alloysTitanium

Hydraulics & actuation

Servo valves, actuators, pumps, landing-gear assemblies — varnish out without touching sealing surfaces.

300M/434015-5PHTi-6Al-4V

Airframe & MRO

Heat exchangers, oxygen components, fasteners and corrosion-prone assemblies — coating preservation as important as cleanliness.

Cd-platedAnodisedCuNi

OEM & space propulsion

Machined and AM components ahead of inspection, coating or assembly — including powder removal from lattices.

Why Ultrasonics — And Why These Machines

Cavitation cleans geometry it cannot see

Bubble collapse at the liquid–metal boundary lifts contamination from passages, galleries and cavities without anything touching the surface. Nothing abrades, nothing embeds, no metal is removed.

GeneratorResonance held all shift

The VarioSonic G4 tracks the transducer array as temperature and load shift — conversion efficiency up to 95%.

Sound fieldSweep modulation

Eliminates standing-wave hot and cold zones across a loaded basket.

Process controlLogged, recipe-driven cycles

Stored recipes and logged cycles — audit evidence produced as a by-product of running.

Bath conditionFiltration & oil separation

Multi-stage filtration and weir oil capture hold results steady as the bath loads.

SupportOver-the-air diagnostics

Most faults identified — many resolved — without a site visit.

ConstructionBuilt to work hard

Heavy 316 stainless tanks, tested before despatch, every wearing part replaceable.

Equipment Fit

The machine follows the process

From manually loaded single-tank units to automated lines — and engineered systems where the catalogue ends.

MSX

Chemistry

Matched to the soil and the substrate

The Brulin range carries approvals from Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, GE Aviation, Lockheed Martin and NASA — BAC 5749, BAC 5753, PS 12024, with passivation to AMS 2700, ASTM A380/A967. You are specifying a chemistry that is already approved, not qualifying a new one.

Shortlist

Best ultrasonic cleaner for aerospace parts: the shortlist

Component-level MRO, validated multi-stage processes, and the chemistry with the approvals behind it.

Best single-tank MRO machineMSX floor range, 50 to 240 L

Precision single-tank cleaning for component-level work, SS316 tanks with stored recipes.

Best for validated wash, rinse, DI and dryUltraWash, 70 to 300 L

One sealed chamber runs the whole sequence as a programmed cycle, so the process is repeatable and documented.

Best chemistryAquaVantage 815 GD and 815 QR-NF

815 GD carries more than forty OEM approvals and is safe on virtually all metals including magnesium. 815 QR-NF for carbon and grease on steel, aluminium and titanium, kept off copper alloys.

Where envelope or sequence demands it, custom builds. Read how to choose the best industrial ultrasonic cleaner and the best ultrasonic cleaning solution for each job.

FAQ

What aerospace engineers ask us

Will it damage anodised or cadmium-plated surfaces?
With correctly selected chemistry and parameters, no — coating compatibility is confirmed during the trial on your actual parts.
Can it clean internal cooling passages?
Yes — cavitation acts wherever liquid reaches, including passages with no line of sight.
Is the chemistry aerospace-approved?
The Brulin range carries Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, GE Aviation and NASA approvals.
Can the process be audited?
PLC machines store recipes per part number and log every cycle — the evidence is generated as the machine runs.
